Best Croatian beaches you've never heard of

Everyone knows about yacht paradise of Palmižana bay across from Hvar or stunning Bol beach on Brač Island, which adorns so many Croatian postcards. But only the locals know about these hidden gems, especially because most of them are accessible only by boat. So shhhh... visit, enjoy and don't tell your friends!

Lošinj Island, ZABODARSKI BAY

Wild and hidden, Zabodarski bay is ideal for getting away from it all. Pebbly sheltered beach surrounded by pine trees, fresh breeze and aquamarine sea is the perfect summer comfort. Much like everything on Lošinj Island, for that matter! When exploring the „vitality island “, don't miss the best kept secret of the Northern Croatian islands.

Hvar Island, DUBOVICA BAY

Beloved Hvar, Croatia’s sunniest and by far the most popular island, has its secrets too. When you take a break from partying in Hvar town, be sure to visit pretty Dubovica bay. If azure seas, olive trees and cricket songs are not enough for you, there is also a picture-perfect historic summer mansion and a small church that make this tiny haven an unforgettable sight.

Dugi Otok Island, SAHARUN BAY

Dugi Otok Island proudly stays away from the crowds, offering its gems only to true wanderers… Called the Croatian Caribbean, it's Saharun bay boasts powder-white sand, wild nature and intense turquoise sea. Perfect as a day trip from nearby Zadar, Saharun is an ideal getaway for yachting, cocktail-sipping and swimming in its shallow waters...

Korčula Island, VAJA BAY

The island so rich in vineyards, olive groves, authentic villages and history also abounds in stunning beaches. Ask any local about the best one and the answer is always – Vaja bay. This miniscule stretch of heaven has fine pebbles and waters so clear they make this the best place for snorkeling on the island.

Pelješac Peninsula, PRŽINA BAY

Lush Pelješac Peninsula is covered with woods and steep vineyards, with jagged coast and scenic roads. Famous for its delicious wines, it also has unbelievable and undiscovered beaches. One of them is sandy Pržina beach, nestled in a well-protected bay between rocky capes of Pelješac. Turquoise-blue waters, untouched nature and shade under the pine trees make a perfect break on a hot summer day.

Susak Island, PORAT BAY

Quirky Susak is a north Croatian island made entirely of yellow dust, with pretty sandy beaches, unique local dialect and no cars. The craggy Porat bay is well-shielded from the winds, which makes it a favorite for boat enthusiasts. It has both sandy and pebble strands and the most ravishing sunset views...

Vis Island, SMOKOVA BAY

Raw and sparsely populated, Vis has been an army base in the recent history and closed for visitors until 1989. It abounds in hidden bays, but our pick is the sandy Smokova bay. Take a goat's path through a former military ground, pass the remains of a WWII aircraft and you will be rewarded with the prettiest beach on the island!

Brač Island, OSIBOVA BAY

Brač Island is famous for its Golden Horn beach, whose shape constantly changes conforming to the waves and sea currents, and high-quality white stone, embedded in world’s iconic buildings such as the White House. But the island’s best find is the charming Osibova. Situated in a well-protected bay, its pristine settings make it an oasis of Mediterranean beauty.
